Myanmar president holds first ever press conference in Nay Pyi Taw

Rangoon, Oct. 22 (Xinhua-ANI): Myanmar President U Thein Sein held his first ever press conference in Nay Pyi Taw Sunday and answered dozens of questions raised by local and foreign reporters.

Asked by Xinhua about what preferential treatments would be granted to foreign investors and what measures would be taken to protect foreign investment by Myanmar’s new Foreign Investment Law to be promulgated soon, Thein Sein said the new law has included such privileges and measures, adding that anyone who comes to invest in another country will take mutual benefit into account.

He stressed the importance of attracting and protecting foreign investment, disclosing that in drafting the law, Myanmar has studied similar laws in other countries especially its neighboring countries, such as China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore and has made sure that these points are included in the law.
