Naga fashion designer makes presence felt at Delhi’s Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week

New Delhi, Oct.15 (ANI): Whether it is fashion, sports, politics or art, youth from India’s northeast are making their presence felt in every sphere. Recently, a fashion designer from Nagaland livened up the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in New Delhi with his design collection.

Atsu Sekhose, a young designer from Nagaland, has been inspired by the culture of the Northeast region, and his designs are a fusion of contemporary and traditional tastes.

Atsu Sekhose showcased parkas in Eri silk, Assamese muga silk shirts, Mizo woven silk pants and Angami pencil skirts as well as shorts with traditional Manipuri weave.

“This is the print collection on different Naga tribes like Ao, Sema, Lotha and others. They are mixed together in a collage style. I have also used a lot of innovation in my designs and fabrics,” said Sekhose.

Supported by the Ministry of Textiles, Atsu earned accolades for his collection.

A graduate from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Atsu is rapidly establishing himself as a designer on the global stage.

He has worked for elite class brands and assisted the famous designer ‘Tarun Tahlani’ during the earlier stages of his career.

He now sells clothes under his own label Atsu.

The dynamic young Naga fashion designer believes in harmony and unity for all round development of the society.

“I want to combine every tribe and every religion. My collection signifies unity. It is a process of bringing all the tribes together and promotes the Naga designs,” said Sekhose.

Today, a large number of youth from Northeast region are rapidly taking up fashion as a career.

Some are taking up modelling while others have chosen designing as a career for themselves.

Esther Jamir, Moikangana Dutta, Sangeeta Phukan, Jongphi, Senti Jamir Nongrum and Jenjum Gadi are some of the few eminent names in the industry. (ANI)
