Islamabad, Oct. 14 (ANI): Pakistan’s envoy to the U.S. Sherry Rehman has said Malala Yousufzai’s struggle for access to education symbolises resonance of all the girls of the country who are denied the right of education by the Taliban.
Rehman said Malala is a brave girl who is a symbol of hope, resolve and courage for every Pakistani. She lauded Malala’s services, saying she had dedicated her life to a noble cause of promoting girls’ education.
“This is taken as long and protracted struggle of Pakistan against terrorism and a typical mindset,” The Daily Times quoted Rehman, as saying.
She said the attack on Malala has developed a new resolve in the country, as everyone, including media and political forces, were speaking out against the act.
“Now we are seeing all over the country that everyone is speaking against it and it is a very important moment for us. There is very legitimate anger on this completely inexcusable act of terrorism,” she added.
Malala, who earned international fame for raising voice against Taliban oppression in Swat, was shot in the neck and head and two other girls sustained injuries when the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) opened fire on their school van in Swat valley on Tuesday.
She is now recuperating at an army hospital in Rawalpindi. (ANI)
