Ahmedabad, Oct 3 (): Congress president Sonia Gandhi is expected to address a rally here in Gujarat to campaign in the state and also to discuss about the drought relief on Wednesday.
Sonia’s meeting on the drought relief comes the very next day after the Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi took a controversy over Sonia Gandhi’s medical expenditure in abroad. Modi in a continued argument is making the allegation against the Congress president and is still questioning her to provide the details over expenses that incurred during her travel to foreign country for medical treatment.
The Congress president who arrived here at 10:30 am went straight to Gandhi-Smruti, a place in which Mahatma Gandhi has spent his childhood during school days, said leaders from the Congress Party. Security has been tightened in view of Sonia Gandhi’s visit to the state.
“Nearly 1,000 policemen were deployed across the state where the Congress President is said to travel in the city,” said a senior police official.
Sonia is expected to speak about how to resolve the problems of the farmers in the state and might also offer some concession ahead of the state polls. Many are expecting from Sonia to spell out on the allegation made by the Gujarat chief Minister Narendra Modi about the recent charges of spending 1,880 crore on her trip to foreign countries for medical treatment and the fund used in her treatment was whether public fund.
In an earlier statement Narendra Modi said that he is having proof on Sonia’s expenditure for medical treatment to foreign countries which was mentioned in a news paper. He also said that the Congress has to make a proclamation on the expenditure else he will have to break the entire underground secret of the Congress party.
On Tuesday while campaigning in Gandhinagar, the Gujarat Chief Minister said that the Congress is hesitating to expose the real figure as it is well aware that his allegations are not wrong. “ If suppose the news report was wrong then by now they would have taken legal action against me,” said Modi.
