US, Japan agree on new missile defence system

London, Sept 17 (ANI): U.S. Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has said that Washington and Tokyo have agreed to set up a second missile defence system in Japan.

The exact location of the system has not yet been determined.

According to the Daily Express, U.S. officials, however, stressed that the radar system is aimed at protecting the region against the threat from North Korea.

The officials stressed that it is not directed at China.

According to the report, the US already has similar early warning radar systems on ships in the Asia-Pacific region.

This second Japan-based system will allow ships to spread out and cover other parts of the region. (ANI)
