Chennai, Sep 17 ():Twenty-six year old Vijayaraj, an auto driver attempted self-immolation in Salem on Monday protesting against the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse who is about to visit  Sanchi in Madhya Pradesh  this week-end.

On Monday morning in broad daylight, Vijayaraj raised slogans against the Sri Lankan President and poured petrol immolating  himself  near the old bus stand making the passengers run with fear  who were standing to board the bus.

DMK leader M Karunanidhi has expressed his concern over the visit of the Sri Lankan President who is held responsible for the death of thousand innocent civilian Tamils during the Eelam War in the year 2009.

Tamil Nadu chief Minister and the AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa who took several steps to stop the training of Sri Lankan defence officers in India had also expressed her deep regret to the visit of Rajapakse. After her immense struggle, nine air force officers were immediately shifted from the Tambaram airbase to Bangalore.

Jayalalithaa came under severe attack from a group of people, when she recently directed a football team from Sri Lanka to leave the state immediately.
