Congress hell-bent on suppressing people, says Shatrughan Sinha

Patna, Sept 16 (ANI): Veteran Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha on Sunday criticised the Congress-run UPA government over its decision to hike diesel prices amidst spiralling inflation, and accused it of subverting the interests of common people.

Interacting with reporters here, Sinha said, “The coal scam, high inflationary prices, hike in prices of diesel and LPG cylinders reflect how this government, that came to power in the name of the common man, is hell bent on suppressing the commoners through red-tapism and corruption. To worsen that, no action has been taken in any regard till date,” he said.

He called upon people to support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)- backed nationwide shutdown on September 20, as a mark of protest against Centre’s big-ticket reforms.

“The latest reform policy will act as the last nail in the coffin of the UPA government and now, we as citizens of the country, would not tolerate this high handedness of the central government. Therefore on September 20, we have called for nationwide shutdown over these burning issues,” Sinha added.

A day after sharply increasing the diesel price, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Friday approved FDI in retail, civil aviation, broadcast and power sectors. (ANI)
