Chennai, Sept 13 (ANI): Winners of the 2009 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Deccan Chargers, will go under the hammer here today.
The cash-strapped franchise, currently owned by the Deccan Chronicle Group is likely to be sold to a buyer that meets all the criteria established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Electronics major Videocon, actor Salman Khan, the RPG Group and the Adani Group have submitted their bids for the ownership.
The base price for the Hyderabad based franchisee, which was bought for Rs. 428 crore in 2008, will reportedly be around Rs. 750 crore.
The buyers will have to meet the criteria set by the BCCI for the sale which includes paying the entire money upfront and taking up all the current liabilities of the franchise
In case none of the buyers meet the criteria, the franchise will be scrapped altogether and the BCCI will float a tender for a new team. (ANI)
