Joker, directed by Shirish Kunder is one of most-awaited movies of 2012. But, unfortunately the film is seeing a huge down in its box office collection in India. Its first weekend collection is not even equal to its expected first day collection.
The movie was expected to open with a great at the Box Office on Friday. But Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer film failed at the collection centres on the very first day. The last movie, Rowdy Rathore of the lead pair, Akshay-Sonakshi having delivered one of the biggest hits of the year.
On Friday, the movie collected approximately Rs 5 crore at the Indian Box Office, which is lower than the collection of medium budget movies like Jism 2, Jannat 2 and Teri Meri Kahaani. Negative reviews and bad word of mouth has made the second day collection to Rs 4.75 crore.
This low collection has allowed the fantasy adventure to join into the league of biggies like Abhishek Bachchan’s Players and Ajay Devgn’s Tezz, which have utterly failed at the Box Office early this year.
However, Joker is a very big budget movie, which has been made with Rs 45 crore. The theatrical rights have made a whopping price for its makers. Predictions from trade analysts suggests 1st week collection will be in the range of 22-23 cr nett and that is a disaster.
