Mumbai, Sep 2 (): Director Anurag Basu’s upcoming venture Barfi has bagged a U certificate from the Censor Board and also has been selected for the Busan film festival to be held next month.
Anurag Basu tweeted “Just got the censor certificate, ‘Barfi!’ is my first U certificate film.” This tweet was followed by another tweet posted by Basu today saying, “There is another good news today for Barfi team and fans, we got selected for Busan film festival. yeaaah!! Thanx Utv.”
Basu, who is known for adult and mature themes in his films, said it is the first U certificate in his career. The director has previously directed ‘Murder’, ‘Gangster – A Love Story’, ‘Life in a… Metro’ that were released with an A-certificate, while ‘Kites’ was awarded U-A certificate.
‘Barfi’ stars Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. It marks Telugu actress Ileana D’Cruz’s foray into Bollywood, who also play a lead role.
‘Barfi’ appears to be a slice-of-life film, where Ranbir Kapoor is playing a deaf-mute boy. For playing the role of a Nepali boy, the actor has under gone a lot of training to get the mannerism right. As, Ranbir is playing the challenging role of a deaf-mute boy, he has to convey emotions with the help of his body language only.
Priyanka Chopra, who is playing an autistic girl, is also expected to come up with a powerful performance. This film is very important for Priyanka Chopra also if she wants to prove her acting prowess.
The film is mainly set in Darjeeling, with occasionally moving to Kolkata.
The film was earlier titled as ‘Khamoshi’. Later the name was changed to ‘Barfi’. The film is scheduled to release on September 14, two weeks before Ranbir’s birthday, that falls on September 28
