Mumbai, Sep 1 (): Big B’s Kaun Banega Crorepati is the most successful reality show on TV. KBC saw Amitabh Bachchan make his TV debut and it marked the beginning of Bachchan’s second innings of stardom. Now, the show is one of the most-viewed programmes on Indian television.
Kaun Banega Crorepati sixth season, called KBC 6, is hosted by Amitabh Bachchan and is starting on 7 September 2012, at 8:30 pm on Sony TV. Taking the theme ‘power of knowledge’ as the base, the makers announced ‘Sirf Gyaan Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dilata Hai’ as its communication theme for the sixth season of the show.
In the last and the fifth season, the KBC campaign centred on the maxim ‘Koi insaan chhota nahin hota (No man is small)’ and brought people from small towns across India to give them a chance to make it big.
Amitabh takes ‘power of knowledge’ philosophy forward for this sixth season as he believes knowledge will drive social change, and help in evading the pervading gender, economic and caste biases. As he says: “KBC is now not just a game, but it is for those whose lives we can bring a change in.”
Big B is most thrilled about having more women contestants this time around, even as he hopes that prejudices against the girl child are wiped out.
Amitabh particularly wants to have women contestants on the show, as most of the parts of our country, even today, aren’t conducive to the girl child, which is really sad. It should be stopped.
He said many girls of our country are deprived of normal education, as parents feel educating them is a waste of money. Women are the heart of any nation and, as they get more opportunities, they will prove that they are not less than men.
