Sonepat (Haryana), Aug 26 (ANI): Government of Haryana felicitated London Olympics medal winners, and presented them with cash rewards and luxury Audi cars at a gala event here on Sunday.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda presented a cash award of Rs.1.5 crore to wrestler Sushil Kumar, who won a silver medal at the Games, while wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, shuttler Saina Nehwal and shooter Gagan Narang received Rs. 1 crore each for bagging bronze medals.
Apart from the cash rewards, all of them got luxury Audi cars, LED TV sets, a memento and other electronic gadgets.
Interacting with media, shuttler Saina Nehwal said, “The Haryana government has supported the players very well. It encourages us to do well in the future. We have received a lot of admiration in the country. It is good.”
The coaches of these players also received cash rewards of Rs.1 lakh.
Fifteen other participants from the state including Vijender Singh, Krishna Punia and others were honoured with cash rewards and a car. (ANI)
