Activists to gherao residences of PM, BJP chief on Sunday

New Delhi, Aug 25 (): Terming the Congress and the BJP to be like hand-in-glove regarding the coal block allocation issue, the previous Team Anna member including Arvind Kejriwal on Friday announced gherao of the residences of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and BJP chief Nitin Gadkari on Sunday.

While the former top cop, Kiran Bedi voiced her disagreement over targeting the main opposition party, and tweeted on Saturday morning,” I whole heartedly support Arvind’s call for Jantar Mantar rally. But we must focus on party in power, and I respect his and others view to cover all.”

This protest has been decided to take place simultaneously on Sunday when Kejriwal will be leading a rally from both Manmohan’s and Gadkari’s residence. “The congress party and the BJP together had looted Rs 1.86 lakh crore in coal scam. We shall all assemble at Jantar Mantar on Sunday Aug 26 at 10:00 am, “tweeted Kejriwal.

In wake of the protest, the Delhi Traffic Police have decided to close down six metro stations from 8 am to 6 pm. This is going to be the first rally after the split in Team Anna .The announcement has come after a CAG report alleged that there was an exchequer lost around Rs 1.86 lakh crore owing to coal bloc allocation without competitive bidding during 2005-09.

We have been raising the issue from May 25, and now all our allegations have come true, said Kejriwal. He demanded cancellation of allotments of coal blocks. Lodge FIR, constitute an SIT, else we will have to file PIL in court and carry out referendum on the issue to expose the government, said Kejriwal.

Bedi alleged that closing metro stations in order to make create problems for people to come to Jantar Mantar rally was ‘absolutely unconstitutional.’

Last week, the activists revealed to file a PIL in court and perform a referendum in order to demonstrate the UPA role in the coal block allocations if the centre fails to constitute a special team to investigate the allegations.
