New Delhi, Aug 23 (): Sony India has announced the launch of the world’s first Cyber-shot camera, 20.2 megapixel Sony DSC-RX100 at the price of Rs 34,990 on Thursday.
The RX100 is an advanced point and shoot camera with a first-of-its-kind 1.0-type Exmor CMOS sensor with effective 20.2 MP. The RX100′s sensor is about four times larger than the 1/2.3-type imager in regular point-and-shoot cameras. The wide F1.8 maximum aperture allows in more light to complement the resolving power of the large 1.0-type Exmor CMOS sensor.
An official spokesperson said in the specially developed camera by Sony, the sensor has an area that’s around four times larger than the 1/2.3-type imager in regular point-and-shoot cameras.
The special features of RX100 are:
• a 20.2-megapixel Exhumer CMOS sensor
• a f/1.8 aperture with a 28mm lens
• a 7.5cm (3-inch) LCD display
• Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens with 3.6x optical zoom
• the latest generation bionz sensor
• an ISO range between 125-6400
• lock-in an auto focus in 0.13 seconds in bright situations and 0.23 seconds in dim lighting
The RX100 packs a Carl Zeiss 28-100mm (35mm equivalent) with an aperture that rests at f/1.8 at the wide end and tops out to f/4.9 on the telephoto end. The lens on the RX100 features a T-coating to reduce ghosting and lens flares. While the minimum aperture of f/4.9 might not be so desirable, but the f/1.8 on a Carl Zeiss lens sure is alluring.
The lens also features seven-bladed circular aperture. Complementing the 1.0-type sensor and lens, the optimised BIONZ image processor maximises shooting responses while assuring exceptionally clean, natural images.
The camera borrows a number of features from the higher-end Sony Alpha DSLR cameras and shoots video at 1080p at 50 frames per second. Additionally, the camera also features e Auto Portrait Framing, Clear Zoom technology, Sweep Panorama and photo creativity guides.
