New Delhi/Sirsa (Haryana), Aug.16 (ANI): Lawmaker and Haryana Janhit Congress party leader (HJC), Kuldeep Bishnoi has urged Congress party president Sonia Gandhi to issue an ultimatum to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to summon former interior minister Gopal Goyal Kanda, the chief accused in the Geetika Sharma suicide case.
“The man who has criminal records in the past, how can he be inducted in the Home Ministry. It can only be given, if he is very near to the chief minister of the state. I urge Sonia Gandhi to give an ultimatum to Bhupinder Singh Hooda to summon Gopal Kanda and produce him in less than 24 hours, otherwise he (Kanda) would be removed from his post. I challenge that Bhupinder Singh Hooda would definitely present Kanda within two hours instead of 24 hours,” said Bishnoi.
Geetika Sharma committed suicide by hanging herself at her New Delhi home on August 4. She left behind a note accusing MDLR airline owner and Haryana Minister Kanda of harassment that led her to commit suicide.
Sharma’s family had accused Kanda of ruining her chances of working with the international Emirates airline, pressurising her to remain with his owned private MDLR airlines.
Bishnoi also accused Hooda of sheltering Kanda, who has been absconding for the past eight days.
“There is no need to visit in Nepal. Bhupinder Singh Hooda has helped him in hiding somewhere in Haryana. The investigation should be conducted in front of the camera, in the presence of a retired judge, so that everyone knows the truth,” said Bishnoi.
Meanwhile, a team of the Delhi Police has detained relatives of Kanda for inquiring over the suicide of Geetika Sharma, a former airhostess of MDLR Airlines.
Early on Thursday, police detained Bunty Bansal, picking him up from his residence in Sirsa for interrogation.
The Delhi Police has already raided over 50 locations and questioned nearly 25 people in connection with the case.
Police have also detained an MDLR Airlines executive named Mandeep Singh, as it was found that the phone number through which Kanda had made his last few calls to Sharma is registered in Singh’s name.
The police also have Geetika’s mobile phone, laptop, and a few other articles in their possession. (ANI)
