The official trailer of Sivaji-3D was launched on August 13 at a grand event at Prasad Lab in Chennai. The conversion of the blockbuster into the 3D format was kept a secret to all. Even Rajinikanth himself was surprised when he was shown the film three weeks ago.
Rajnikanth expressed his surprise saying he came to know about the conversion only three weeks before. When the producers showed him the Sivaji song, he was awe-struck. He asked them to play the song again and watched it thrice.
Rajini was seen in a delightful mood during the launch of the trailer. He made the evening memorable. He was discussing with the crew members and later joined M Saravanan, SP Muthuraman, MS Guhan, Aruna Guhan, Sai Prasad and Real Image’s Senthil at the special media screening.
The 3D versions were thoroughly converted from its 2D format. It took about a year for the process with 400 technicians working in three shifts. Eight months of R & D went into the making, which was revealed in the AV screened before the trailer. The cost for converting 2D into 3D was not revealed by the producers. The running time of the 185 minutes long film has been reduced by 48 minutes.
Rajinikanth expressed his gratitude to the AVM productions. He said God is always with me, for just when I was wondering how to give something back to my fans to whom I am indebted, I was presented with this opportunity. This film will be my gift to them. I was thinking that Kochadaiyaan would be the first 3D release, but AVM has done it already.
