Chennai, Aug 12 (): The Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO) meeting has been apprehended in a legal battle following the police denial to give TESO permission to hold its meeting at the YMCA grounds. The Madras High Court is likely to hear the plea on Sunday that was appealed by the DMK refusing to accept the police’s denial to give the permission.
According to sources, in case the court denies permission then it has been decided the TESO meeting shall take place within the premises of the DMK headquarters. The TESO is facing the problem for the second time after announcing the scheduled date.
The entire DMK circle is looking worried following the denial to conduct the TESO meet. The party could not assert itself as a champion of Tamil cause in order to gain the lost ground in Tamil Nadu.
The organizers were seen continuing with their efforts on Saturday in order to make sure that the meeting will be held as per schedule as the DMK chief M. Karunanidhi announced that the meeting will take place at the Anna Arivalayam, party headquarters , if the police denial was not lifted.
On Saturday, the TESO meet was formally denied by the city police as it feared law and order to get disrupted. Following which the party moved the Madras High Court challenging the decision, the Ministry of External Affairs has clarified that it had no objection to the use of the term ‘Eelam’ in the title of the conference, overruling its earlier objection.
After hearing on a petition filed by the organizers on Saturday, Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar was believed to have said that the Division Bench has to decide as the matter was still pending before it. The case is likely to be taken up at a special sitting on Sunday.
Sources said the DMK chief has declared to arrange a conference as a part of the meeting in a hotel at 10 a.m. on Sunday in order to confirm the resolutions to be adopted at the conference.
