New Delhi, Aug 9 (ANI): Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev arrived here on Thursday to begin his agitation against black money and corruption at the Ramlila Maidan.
Baba Ramdev, who is expected to reach Ramlila Maidan at around 10 a.m. in a procession, visited Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial at the Rajghat here to pay his respects to him prior to beginning the agitation.
Baba Ramdev termed his agitation to be people’s movement, saying his fight is for the common man of this country.
“My fight is for the common man of this country. I have gone through the pains of poverty and deprivation. This agitation is decisive. I want the people to undergo the same suffering that I went through,” said Baba Ramdev.
“The country is reeling through tremendous pressure. It is up to all of us to save the nation The All signs are pointing towards success of this agitation,” he added.
Scores of supporters of the yoga guru have already gathered at the Ramlila Maidan to support the cause.
Baba Ramdev had earlier on Wednesday said that he has no political ambitions, and added that his main mission is to save the country by bringing back black money stashed in safe havens abroad.
Talking to the media in the eve of his agitation at Ahmedabad, Baba Ramdev said that he has no political ambitions.
“We have no political mission or political agenda. Our only mission is to save the country by bringing back black money,” he said.
The yoga guru further said that it is all up to veteran social activist Anna Hazare whether to join him in his agitation.
“Annaji has more than once publicly promised that he is joining me on August 9, so now its up to him to decide,” he said, when asked whether Hazare would be joining him at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi.
“We have appealed to every social, religious, political and spiritual organisation to join our movement. So anyone can come and join us tomorrow,” he added.
Baba Ramdev, who has so far been at loggerheads with the ruling UPA Government, is expected to put forward various issues during his indefinite agitation such as making the CBI independent and the Lokpal Bill. (ANI)
