Chennai, Aug 8 (): The two big releases of the Kollywood, Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam and Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan may clash, so Rajini and Kamal had a secret meeting and they have decided to release the movies on different dates to avoid any clash in the box office, media report says.
Reports say in the secret meeting it has been decided that Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam which has covered most of the post-production work will release first in October whereas Rajini’s Kochadaiyaan which has wide post-production work pending will be released by the end of this year.
While speaking to the media, Kamal Haasan confirmed that they have made a deal not to clash with each other. Releasing both the films together would do no good to either of them. It’s because of economics that Rajini and Kamal have not come together since their mentor K Balachander’s Ninaithale Inikkum in 1979.
However, Kamal’s spokesperson has denied the meeting saying the news is a rumour and said that it is not true.
The spokesperson said that the producers of Kochadaiyaan have announced long back that the movie would release on December 12 (12.12.12) which coincides with Rajinikanth’s birthday. But Vishwaroopam is likely to hit the screens either in September or October. This means there is no clash between the releases of the two movies. So, the question on Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan secretly meeting to discuss about the releases never arise, he concludes.
Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan is a big-budget film directed by his daughter Soundarya Ashwin. It features Deepika Padukone, Sarath Kumar, Jackie Shroff and others in the cast. It is a period film that is inspired by Pandya king Kochadaiyaan Ranadheeran and it is a fictional description of the ruler.
On the other end, Vishwaroopam is a spy-thriller starring Kamal Hassan, Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose and others in the cast. Kamal has written the story, screenplay and dialogues, along with the responsibility of directing the movie.
