Hambantota, July 24 (): Sri Lanka crushed India by 9 wickets in the second One-day International at Hambantota on Tuesday to level the series 1-1. It was a contrasting performance by the Indian batsmen from their earlier match as India was bundled out for just 138 runs in 33.3 overs.
Chasing an easy target of 139, the Lankan made 139 runs in just 19.5 overs. Sri Lankan openers Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan put an outstanding opening stand of 119-run stand in 16.4 overs before victory was sealed with 181 balls remaining.
Earlier won the toss elected bat by M.S.Dhoni, Indian openers made 31 runs partnership. Then in form Sri Lankan bowler Thisara Perera collapsed the top order batsmen Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. Perera took a wicket in each of his first three overs without conceding a run. His spell of 3-3-0-3 left India on 41 for 4 after eight overs. The only batsman to face the Lankans Bowling attack was opener Gautam Gambhir who top scored with 65 off 96 balls with four boundaries. Gambhir scored his 32nd half-century in the one day Internationals. Ravichandran Ashwin made 21 runs from 15 balls, a 28-run eighth wicket partnership was needlessly run-out in the 24th over. Seven Indian batsmen scored single digit runs. Angelo Mathews took 3 wickets conceding only 14 runs from 7 overs.
Lankan openers Upul Tharanga made unbeaten 59 in 60 balls and Tillekaratne Dilshan 50 of 49 balls, as the hosts pocketed the match with more than 30 overs to spare.
