Washington, July 7 (ANI): President Barack Obama made an unscheduled stop at Kretchmar’s Bakery on Friday, offering the national press corps travelling with him some cookies.
“Maybe I’ll get some cookies,” Politico quoted him as saying.
“Press, do you want some cookies?” he said.
When he was not able to elicit any response to the offer, he asked them if it would also be considered as bribe.
“Will you consider this a bribe once again?” he asked.
“Why don’t we get a dozen chocolate chip cookies and send them on the press bus, and I won’t know if you guys ate them, all right? I know the photographers will eat them. Those guys have no shame. You know that’s right,” he said.
Pool reporter Michael Scherer of Time, travelling with Obama on Thursday, had declined to let Obama buy him a peach “lest it be considered a bribe for good coverage.”
“You think a peach and I get a better column?” Obama said laughing, but did not buy the peach. (ANI)
