Chennai, Jun 27 (): Vijay starrer Thuppakki and Suriya starrer Maatraan are all set to release on silver screens on August 15, Independence Day. Both the films have created huge expectations among the audiences.
Last year too, Vijay and Suriya clashed together in their respective flicks Velayudham and 7aam Arivu, which were released simultaneously for Diwali.
The makers of the films have decided to release their movies on the Independence Day, as this year’s Independence Day has a long holiday with a five-day weekend.
AR Murugadoss had revealed earlier about his plans to release Vijay’s Thuppakki in August, but KV Anand has decided recently about releasing Maatraan at the same time. The makers usually choose a long holiday to release their movies to get a massive opening and cash in money.
Thuppakki began its shooting in Mumbai early December and is currently in its post-production works. Meanwhile, the makers of the movie are planning to reveal the trailer and new posters of the film in the first week of July.
Maatraan is advertised to become Suriya’s biggest release till date. The makers are planning to release the audio of the film on July 23.
Thuppakki is an action thriller movie written and directed by A. R. Murugadoss. It is a gangster film made in and around the crowd streets of Mumbai. Vijay stars as an encounter specialist with Kajal Aggarwal playing the lead female role.
Whereas, Maatraan is also an action thriller movie directed by KV Anand. The movie stars Suriya and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles. Suriya portrays two different roles, a hero and a villain. Moreover, Maatraan comes with a very familiar and attractive tagline: “Sometimes the End is just the Beginning.”
It is interesting to note that Kajal Aggarwal plays the female lead role in both the movies.
