Chennai, Jun 20 (): The release of Ajith Kumar’s much-expected movie Billa 2 has been postponed. The makers of the film announced earlier that the movie would release on June 22 and now they have postponed the release date to June 29.
It is said that the major reason for the postponement of the movie is due the release of Karthi’s movie Saguni, which is opening on screens on June 22. Trade analysts say even though Billa 2, the Ajith Kumar starrer movie is much bigger than Saguni, both the big releases releasing on the same day would suppress either’s business. Saguni is a political thriller, starring Karthi and Pranitha in lead roles.
On Monday, producer of the movie Billa 2, Sunir Kheterpal while speaking with MetroPlus said, the movie has been given an ‘A’ certificate by the censor board and as Karthi starrer movie Saguni is ready to hit screens on 22nd June, to avoid close contest at box office between the two movies, Billa 2 will not release as announced earlier on June 22.
Ajith and Parvathy Omanakuttan, former Miss India 2008, play the lead roles in Billa 2. Meenakshi Dixit plays a very important role, Burana Abdulla does an item number and the villain role is played by Vidyut Jamwal. Prabhu and Rahman appear in important roles.
