New Delhi, June 19 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday slammed the ruling Congress Party for laying more importance to the forthcoming presidential poll, while ignoring the present economic crisis prevailing in the country.
“The country is facing economic crisis. Congress party is not concerned about the nation but is more concerned about the president. The economic condition of the country is poor. According to the Fitch report, India’s rating is downgrading. Congress is more concerned about its own rating than the rating of the country,” said BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain.
“The Finance Minister has been nominated for the post of president and the finance ministry is at the mercy of God,” he added.
Hussain further said that BJP would meet the leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and decide on the proposed candidate for the presidential poll.
“The question related to the presidential poll will be addressed in the meeting of NDA by all in one voice. We will decide about it in the meeting and then we will inform you,” he added.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Jagdambika Pal said the BJP led coalition NDA is disintegrating, as it has failed to form a consensus on the issue of presidential election.
“The alliance of Bharatiya Janata party and NDA (National Democratic Alliance) is disintegrating as BJP led NDA has not been able to decide on the issue of presidential election by meeting the chief ministers. They have failed to come to a conclusion,” said Pal.
The presidential elections will be held on July 19. The vote count will take place on July 22.
