Box Office Collection Report: Rowdy Rathore dazzles with 15.1 Crores on opening Day

Mumbai, June 2 (): Akshay’s Rowdy Rathore the action packed thriller opened to a huge response from the public with a Box office collection of whopping Rs 15.10 crores on its opening day. The action packed entertainer is the third biggest opening day collections of all time after Agneepath and Bodyguard. It has turn out to be the biggest non-holiday Friday opener.

Rowdy Rathore had a good business abroad as well. In UAE on Thursday and Friday it made $130,000 and $180,000 respectively.

Rowdy Rathore, which had good reviews from film critics, opened on Friday with a massive expectation at the Box Office with its occupancy from 95% to 100% in single screens and also had a good response of 55% to 70% across the country. Its first day Box office collection was more than the expectations of trade experts.

In UK Rowdy Rathore had collections on Fri £ 36,393, Australia on Fri A$ 20,392, New Zealand on Fri NZ$ 10,196.

Siddharth Roy Kapoor, MD, UTV Motion Pictures, said, “We are thrilled with the incredible opening day collections of ROWDY RATHORE across the length and breadth of India.”

Shiva (Akshay), who is a small-time conman, is head-over-heels in love with Priya (Sonakshi Sinha), a girl whom he met at a wedding he wasn’t invited to. The film turns upside down with the entry of six-year-old girl Neha, who believes him as her father. Akshay was seen packing some hardcore kicks and punches.

Directed by Prabhu Dheva, the movie is made with a huge budget of about Rs 40 crore. The film is a remake of Tollywood movie ‘Vikramarkudu’. Bollywood’s hero Akshay Kumar with Sonakshi Sinha dazzles in UTV’s ROWDY RATHORE produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and co-produced by Shabinaa Khan. The film was released in 2,300 screens in India and about 400 screens in abroad.
