IPL 5 2012: Chennai Super Kings beat Deccan Chargers by 10 runs,White’s 77 in vain

Chennai, May 5 (): Cameron White’s fantastic 77-run off 53 balls was not enough for Deccan Chargers to beat Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings had shown disciplined all-round performance to snatch up a ten run-win over Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League here at Chennai on May 4.

Chasing the target of 161 for win, Hyderabad made 68 run stand for second wicket by Shikhar Dhawan who made 36 from 29 balls with three fours and Cameron White brought the hope for Deccan Chargers. In the eleventh over, Shikhar Dhawan was run out by Dwayne Bravo that turned the match around. Captain Kumar Sangakkara was out caught and bowled by Suresh Raina in 12th over for just one run.

White played a wide ball to long-off in the 19th over and returned for the second run and was run out by a brilliant throw from Ravinder Jadeja from the deep to keeper Dhoni and the captain took off the bails. To win Deccan Chargers needed 20 runs but in the last over made only 10 runs.

Earlier winning the toss Dhoni elected to bat first, last Murali Vijay in the third over for fourteen runs of eleven deliveries. Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina hit Deccan Charger bowlers all around the ground and made 64 run stand while Suresh Raina who made 32 runs from 24 balls with two fours and two sixes was caught by Abhisek of Amit Mishra in tenth over.

Chennai Super Kings were 82 for two in half way mark. The wicket tumbled at regular intervals as CSK made 160 runs for six wickets. Faf du Plessis made 42 runs from 35 balls with two fours and one six. Skipper Dhoni made 34 of 28 balls. Fielding and catching caused a major setback for Deccan Chargers who dropped few catches.
