Dhandapani Kuppuswamy gets elected as the President of FeTNA

Apr 30 (): Founded in 1987 by five Tamil Sangams, the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA) is a registered, non-profit umbrella organization of Tamil Sangams that functions within the North American continent. It was started with a purpose to network with other Tamil sangams to explore increased possibilities of connectivity, constancy and added up resources. FeTNA aims at and efficiently provides better connectivity among the Tamil Communities in North America.

FeTNA, after a month-long preparations and processes, conducted its elections to elect its new functionaries for the years 2012-14; the electoral process was overseen by electoral officer Mr Sivanandam Mariappan (Minnesota Tamil Association). Nearly 26 Tamil Associations, Federation members and life members participated in the electoral process directly.

The new functionaries were elected and announcements with regard to the elected functionaries of the Federation were made by the electoral officer in New York.

The new functionaries of FeTNA for the years 2012-‘14:

President           : Dhandapani Kuppuswamy Ph.D. ( Panai Nilam Tamil Association–South Carolina)

Vice President : Peter Yeronimoose (Washington Tamil Association – Washington D.C.)

Secretary : Padhivar Pazhamai Pesi alias Mauna. Manivasagam (South Central Tamil Association-Memphis-Tennessee)

Deputy Secretary : Sendhamarai Prabhakar (Charlotte Tamil Association – North Carolina)

Treasurer  : Thangamani Baluchami (Atlanta Tamil Association –Atlanta –Georgia)

Director 1 : Karu Malarchelvan (Federation Life Member –Houstan, Texas)

Director 2 : Yobu Daniel (Missouri Tamil Association –St.Louis-Missouri)

Director 3 : Pragal Thiru (Canadian Tamil Federation – Canada)

Director 4 : Sarangapani Gugabalan (Sri Lanka Tamil Association-America)

Many of the members including Maraimalai Ilakkuvanar, FeTNA’s ex-President Arasu Chelliah, and former President Thillai Kumaran greeted the newly elected office bearers and wished them well.

FeTNA is preparing to celebrate its Silver Jubilee celebrations at Baltimore on July 6, 7 and 8. In addition to the grand festivities, the splendid ceremony will also witness the newly elected functionaries assume office.
