Paul Di Resta’s cousin fined for speeding

London, Apr 1 (ANI): F1 racer Paul Di Resta’s glamorous cousin Alanna has been fined for speeding at 100mph.

Alanna, 26 – also related to IndyCar champ Dario Franchitti – was driving at twice the speed limit in her sports car and tailgating another motor.

However, the shop assistant kept her licence after she claimed to be rushing for the restroom because of a stomach infection.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard police clocked Alanna in her powerful two-litre Volkswagen Golf GT Sport on the A725 in Bellshill, Lanarkshire.

“Officers saw her driving closely behind another vehicle,” the Sun quoted prosecutor Cassie Scott as saying.

“The vehicle in front moved into another lane and the accused then accelerated to speeds of up to 100mph,” Scott said.

Di Resta’s lawyer Gillian Law said she was suddenly struck by a stomach complaint as she drove from her home in Edinburgh to her boyfriend’s in East Kilbride.

“It is a source of much embarrassment to her.

“She felt a strong and urgent need to find a toilet. This was an isolated incident,” Law said.

Sheriff David Bickett spared her a ban but gave the first offender five points and fined her 300 pounds. (ANI)
