Wishtel launches two low-cost tablets to compete with Aakash

Mumbai, Mar 24 (): Mumbai based company Wishtel has launched two low-cost tablets to compete with Aakash tablets.

The highlight of the Tablets is it supports Indian languages. Wishtel was the second lowest bidder after Datawind in the Aakash tablet.

Wishtel Tablets, ‘IRA’ and ‘IRA Thing’ have been designed and manufactured in India.The company is targeting educational, and corporate users.

The tablet named IRA has entered the market with cheap prices ranging between INR 4,000 and INR 5,500. These tablets can play almost all audio and video formats. Battery is 4000ma capacity. The new tablets has advanced multimedia, connectivity, and computing capabilities.

Features of IRA:

It is priced at Rs.4000.  It runs on the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system (OS). It has a 7 inch TFT LCD (800×480 pixel resolution) capacitive touchscreen display. It is powered by an 800MHz processor and has 256MB of RAM with the internal memory of the device having 2GB. The device has Wi-Fi, 3G (via external dongle) and it also comes with a USB 2.0 port and a Trans Flash (TF) card reader. Its weight is 370 grams, and the size of the Tablet is 203mm x 137mm x 14.5mm. It is provided with a 2200mAh battery.

Feature of IRA Thing:

It is priced at Rs.5500. It runs on the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system (OS). It has a 7 inch TFT LCD (800×480 pixel resolution) capacitive touchscreen display. . It is powered by an 800MHz processor and has 512MB of RAM with the internal memory of the device is 4GB. The device has Wi-Fi, 3G (via external dongle) and it also comes with a USB 2.0 port and a Trans Flash (TF) card reader. Its weight is 370 grams, and the size of the Tablet is 203mm x 137mm x 14.5mm. Provided with a powerful 2800mAh battery in the Tablet, the company claims will provide up to 3 hours of battery life.

These two Tablets do not have any camera (rear or front facing). The eBook reader app actually allows users to read eBooks in Hindi and other Indian languages, as well as course content for ICSE, CBSE and state boards plus engineering, medical, and other higher education offerings.

Earlier this week, Zync launched its seven-inch tablet on the Android Ice Cream Sandwich at Rs 8,990 while Intex Technologies launched i-Tab, an eight-inch Android tablet priced at Rs 11,900.
