Lucknow, Mar 10 (): A new leader in the Samajwadi Party (SP) is likely to be expected in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
Akhilesh Yadav is budding as the next Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The announcement is expected at the SP legislature party meeting at around 11 am today. Akhilesh, will today be declared the head of the new government. In the presence of all its elected representatives to the assembly at a meeting, his name will be allegedly proposed by Azam Khan. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Monday, sources said.
Mr Khan was among those who reportedly did not share the interest of most other party members who said it was time for the younger Yadav to take charge, before Holi. There has been rumor as to who would be the chief minister, ever since the election results were out. Leaders like Mulayam’s brother Shivpal Singh and Azam Khan were also not very comfortable with the idea.
Some of the newly-elected MLAs wanted Akhilesh as the new CM, praising him for the party’s change of fortune. On Mulayam Singh’s part he kept up the suspense. “We don’t have anything to say today. The legislature party will meet tomorrow when the leader will be chosen. All MLAs and MPs will take part in the meeting, “he told reporters here.
On the flip side, Akhilesh lacks administrative experience but then Mulayam recognizes too well that there cannot be a most favorable time than this. With a clear consent, Akhilesh will get sufficient time to find his feet and get the act together. In his doubtfully large victory, Akhilesh has shown modesty. “Someone comes first, another person comes second,” he said.
Anyhow, the end of the day has brought good results, and each and every one is happy with the new leader to head the state, said the party sources.
