Mumbai, Feb 25 (): After a gap of eighteen long years, Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi have signed ‘English Vinglish’.
The two are coming together again on screen in R. Balakrishnan’s wife Gauri Shinde’s “English Vinglish”. The magic of Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi was last seen in “Khuda Gawah” in 1992. Khuda Gawah was a superb and memorable hit, after that pairing of Sridevi and Amitabh has never happened.
The plot mentions the life of a housewife to learn English to match with her high profile husband. The role played by Amitabhji is short and is of a co-passenger who travels along with Sridevi on a flight and there is a short interaction scene there.
Apparently Mr Bachchan immediately said a yes to the cameo without hesitation. “It’s actually a very funny mid-air cameo. And only Mr Bachchan could do it. My wife and I are grateful he agreed,” said Balki.
Speaking to a daily, Balki, the director of Big B starrer Cheeni Kum and Paa, informed, “It’s actually a two-day cameo for Mr Bachchan, and not an after-thought. Gauri had written the cameo with Mr Bachchan in mind. We were to shoot last week. But then the blasts happened. So now we have shot on Monday and will have to find another day for this dream team to come together.”
Big B who is thrilled to once again work with Sridevi has tweeted that “With the effervescent Sridevi after eternity almost. She is still the same spontaneous and lovely.”
“In Pune on set with Sridevi after ages… Perhaps ‘Khuda Gawah’! Times a going long,” Big B posted on his Twitter.
“The shoot is simple, the shots uncomplicated and Sridevi is her usual best. God bless her,” he posted on his blog Bigb.bigadda.com.
This is the second time that Amitabh Bachchan will be directed by woman after being directed by Honey Irani in Armaan.
He also tweeted, “Woman Power at peak my second experience eventually women will take over the world.”
In a recent interview, Sridevi said that both her daughters wanted her to do a film. She was getting a lot of offers, but didn’t really like the stories that came to her. However, when Balki gave her a narration she immediately agreed to do the film.
