Mumbai, Jan 20 (): The 2006 crime-thriller Tamil film “Vettaiyadu Vilayadu” that starred Kamal Haasan, Jyothika and Kamalinee Mukherjee in lead roles will be remade in Hindi.
Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu was a crime thriller movie which was a hit due to its effects. It has been already made in Telugu as ‘Raghavan’ in 2007. The crime-thriller was a super hit Tamil movie where Kamal Hassan played a cop.
‘Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu’ remake in Hindi is just being planned, but the director wants one of the Khans in this movie. However, he is as yet undecided on his choice. But, it’s sure an A-list actor from Bollywood is likely to play the lead role.
Confirming the news, Gautham Vasudev Menon, the director of the film, says, “I am keen on remaking the film in Hindi with a top actor from the Hindi film industry and I have a long wish list of actors who can carry off Kamal’s role in the Hindi version. We are considering Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan to play the lead role. I think SRK will suit the role better. But I haven’t approached any Bollywood actor yet as it’s too early to speak to them.”
Salman is more likely to win the race as he has successfully pulled off cop avatar twice in Tamil film- Pokkri’s Bollywood remake, ‘Wanted’ and 2010′s biggest hit, Dabangg.
Menon ventured into Hindi cinema with Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein. He is all set for his next release, Ekk Deewana Tha,the remake of his own film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. His popular film Khaka Khaka has also been remade into Force by Nishikanth Kamath.
The director plans to finish his other pending projects before he directs the Hindi remake of “Vettaiyadu Vilayadu”.
He is currently busy with the Jeeva-Samantha starrer “Neethaane Enn Ponvasantham”, which will simultaneously be remade in Hindi and Telugu. He also has “Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru” with Vijay.
