Mumbai, Nov 12 (): Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Rockstar’ has seen an excellent opening day. The film has seen a huge business at multiplexes. It managed to earn Rs 11 crore plus on the opening day itself.
This is Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest opening-day collection till date, beating the Friday figures of all his earlier films.
Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited Rockstar which released all across yesterday have received mixed reviews but has got a decent opening.
Evidently, the audience loves the young actor in his rock-star avatar as the film took an extraordinary opening in multiplexes and A-Class centres in all territories across the country. Also the fact that it was a solo release helped the film get a good initial. It enjoyed an opening of 90 per cent domestically and is going strong on its second day with every show.
Directed by director Imtiaz Ali, known for making films like “Jab We Met” and “Love Aaj Kal”, the story revolves around a Jat boy who aspires to become a famous rockstar like Jim Morrison.
The interesting pairing of Ranbir and Nargis Fakri topped with melodious music by A.R. Rahman has managed to draw in the crowds.
Co-produced by Eros International and Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision, the film was made on a budget of more than Rs.60 crore and has been extensively shot in Delhi in locations like St. Stephen’s College, Connaught Place and Nizamuddin, among others.
However the overall fate of the film largely depends on the weekend figures. With mixed response, the collections could vary over Saturday and Sunday and Monday morning figures will decide on the final destiny of Rockstar.
