Bangalore, Apr 15 () : Former Microsoft India Chairman Ravi Venkatesan was today, inducted into the board of directors of IT major Infosys, as an additional director of the company with immediate effect.
Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy, in the statement said, “Ravi Venkatesan is one of the best known leaders of corporate India. He brings enormous value with his vast experience in the software industries.”
Prior to joining Microsoft, Venkatesan worked for over 17 years with Cummins, the statement said. The company also said K Dinesh, member of the board and co-founder of the company, would retire by rotation at the annual general meeting of the company, to be held on June 11.
The company also said the board of directors would meet on April 30, 2011, to finalise plans for the company’s leadership succession post after Murthy’s retirement as chairman of the board in August 2011.
Infosys’ director incharge, Human Resource and Administration, Mohandas Pai, resigned on Friday, from the board of the company with effect from June 11, 2011. Infosys’ board of directors will meet on April 30 to finalise plans for the company’s leadership, as chairman NR Narayan Murthy retires in August 2011. Pai had been in a finance role as Chief Financial Officer of Infosys since 1994, and later took responsibility for the critical functions of human resources and education. He is also a well-known public face and has been part of various committees, such as the Kelkar committee, for reforming direct taxes and is currently on the SEBI board.
