Chennai, Dec 4 (): The Madras High Court ordered a notice on a claim, which stated that the producer and director of the Rajinikanth starrer ‘Enthiran’ had infringed the copyright of the applicant.
Justice Mr. S. Rajeswaran said the notice to Director Sankar, and Sun Pictures Private Ltd., the director and producer of the film respectively, would be returnable by December 23.
In his application in the suit, P.S. Arnica Nassar claimed that he was working as a Sanitary Officer Grade IV in Annamalai University, Chidambaram.
In July 1995, one of his novels ‘Robot Thozhirsalai’ was published in the Tamil bi-weekly Malai Mathi and now he stated that the story of the film “Enthiran” was nothing but the story of his novel.
He asked the court for an intervening ban directing the respondents to submit the accounts of the film from the date of release till November 15 before the court.
Justice Mr. Nasar said that he had filed a suit looking for a direction to the director and the producer to pay him Rs.50 lakh as damages for copyright violation.
He also wanted a permanent injunction preventing the defendants from screening and exhibiting the film without his permission.
