Liberhan report - Babri Masjid’s Undisposed debris

On Monday the Indian parliament was adjourned by the speaker following the opposition’s uproar on the issue of leakage of Liberhan commission report to a Delhi based daily newspaper.

Liberhan Commission was constituted long long ago in 1992 to inquire about the crime of demolition of the Babri Masjid. The commission at last submitted its report to the Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh on 30 June 2009 .

Sangh Parivar, the Hindu nationalist group including RSS, BJP, VHP, Bajrang Dal, Shiv sena and other fringe outfits claimed that the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was constructed by Muslims over the birth place of the Hindu god Ram at Ayothi about 500 years back. Therefore the so called representatives of the Hindu faith wanted to avenge after 5 centuries and organized a movement in 1990s to build a Ram temple at Ayothya. On 6th  December 1992 they gathered a violent mob and demolished the Masjid resulting in a dent in the communal harmony of secular India.

The Liberhan commission was originally given a term of just 3 months to reveal the truth which was already well known to the nation. Honourable Liberhan - a retired judge in 1992 got 48 extensions, grew old by 17 more years, spent Rs.7 crore for his marathon probe to find out a truth that was well known  even to an illiterate man serving tea shop in any remote corner of this vast democratic country.

It is said that one more deadline shall be available for the government to table the report in Parliament on 30th  December 2009. However in a political play written by the ruling Congress party and the main opposition party BJP, the contents of the report are leaked to coffee tables of the country through a newspaper.

The comical media enacted a perfect drama today in collusion with their allies . They reported that former Prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee , BJP leaders Lal Kishan Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi (belonging to forward castes of India) and former BJP leaders Kalyan Singh and Uma Bharathi (the sidelined second grade leaders belonging to backward castes) were indicted by the Liberhan commission as  responsible for the demolition of the Masjid.

Immediately the issue of leakage of report has been diverted by BJP as an issue of breach of privilege. With the government and Honourable Liberhan himself denying any leakage, people are left to conclude whether the prestigious national news paper has published a fabricated copy of Liberhan report indicating true culprits since everybody knows who committed the crime.

What is most intriguing to the general public is that the government is said to be planning to table the genuine report with the entire content only in December 2009 along with Action Taken Report. We wonder what action is going to be taken with just one month remaining and who will be punished for committing the crime. In our understanding action means punishment. But politicians know that action means more commissions and court cases.

The situation in India is that the courts have no record of punishing heavy weight political leaders for corruption or any other crime. At the best the Supreme court will ask the accused politicians to enjoy punishment by their own conscience. The Sangh Parivar especially enjoys the provisions of Manu Dharma, the age old super constitutional power, practiced by ruling elites in government, judiciary and the media. The Indian constitution is invited only for criminals lesser than the organizers of mob violence and genocide.

The power drama in Delhi is full of conspiracies and big money. People suspect whether there was an earlier understanding between Congress party and BJP to drag the Bofors case and Babri case endlessly for mutual benefit;  with the Bofors case buried conveniently, now the Congress party is at its liberty to expose its rival, particularly when it is weaker (only to expose not to punish).

We are sure no BJP leader will be punished. Cases shall be prolonged beyond the retirement /death of judges and until the death of the accused. The two Hindu activists who were spotted in photographs demolishing the dome of Babri Masjid with iron rods have already coverted to Islam.

The voluminous Liberhan commission report is nothing more than some scribbled papers to be trashed and disposed off with the debris of the demolished Masjid - reiterating one more time that India , the Karma Boomi, is a land of injustice.
