Defiance – Beginning of freedom (English Movie)
A powerful, gripping adventure that showcases the extra-ordinary true story of Bielski brothers. The three brothers were simple farmers, who narrowly escaped the Nazis, and turned into revolutionaries and fought for the freedom of their people.
Daniel Craig (James Bond: The Quantum Solace) stars as Tuvia Bielski, an ordinary citizen who turns to become a revolutionary hero, saving and leading his people in the Belarusian forests, during World War II. Tuvia and his brother Zus (Liev Schreiber, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) have difference of opinion in the course of action to be taken. While Tuvia, helps the Nazi camp inmates and help them live free in the forest, providing food and security, Zus prefers a more active role, and joins the Soviet Army in fighting the Nazis.
Their younger brother is torn between the two brothers, but sticks with Tuvia in the forest. The movie shows the tough choices Tuvia has to make as a leader of the group, though some circulate rumours of him being power hungry. Tuvia enforces strict discipline in his forest camp and insists that every one should work in the camp.
Zus joins the Soviet army and helps them in many successful attacks against the Nazi regime, but in the final moments, when the Nazis have surrounded the forest and decide to slaughter all men, women and children, the Soviets decide to retreat, leaving Zus frustrated. Yet, Zus and his group of men go back to the forest and help his brother save the people from the Nazi army.
The brothers were believed to have lived with the people in the forest for almost 2 years. The above was my review of the film, which reminded me of the final battle in the forest of Vanni in Srilanka, but Mr. Raa’Picha does not agree with me and is sharing his review as shown below.
Raa’Picha:
The above review is inaccurate and full of errors. The Movie is about a group of Jew terrorists who used poor Jews as human shields in the Belarusian forest. Nazis under the command of the most honourable Fuhrer, Hitler tried very hard to rescue the poor Jews and put them in Concentration .. er .. Welfare Camps. The Nazi soldiers tried every possible way to find the Jews and put them in a safe Concentr..er.. Welfare camps, so that they will not be troubled by those mindless Jew terrorists.
The movie also shows how the Jew terrorists mercilessly killed the kind and benevolent Nazi soldiers, in the name of protecting the Jews. There are scenes in the movie which looks like that Nazi soldiers are shooting at innocent people, but a closer and sharper look shows that it is not the Nazis, but the Jew terrorists that are shooting at their own people, who are trying to flee from the terrorists to reach for the safety of the Concentration ..er.. Welfare camps.
Ok. That was Mr. Raa’Picha’s review. I hope you find the two reviews helpful enough to prompt you to watch this movie. This is a must watch moview for all “Freedom Lovers” as the movie demonstrates the human spirit for freedom and dignity. PS: If you are reading this, remember, YOU are the RESISTANCE.

I was eagerly expecting the release of this movie, for reasons unknown, as my experience with sequels is that the first part is the best and the last is the worst with nothing more to the storyline but more and more extravaganza and graphics. I can list quite a few ...continue
