Feb 24 (TruthDive): New Zealand and India lead their respective groups in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 as the tournament has all teams, with the exception of Ireland and UAE play at least 2 games since the cup kick started on 14th February.
The Kiwis are almost unstoppable as they have comprehensively beaten England, Sri Lanka and Scotland. The best part is that they have a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +3.59 because of the huge margin of victories. The down side is that they have played only 87.1 overs against the 3 opponents meaning they have spent less than 30 overs in the middle every time they have taken the field.
Australia had their match against Bangladesh washed out leaving them with 3 points from 2 games, same as that of Bangladesh but ahead basis the NRR, but only by a margin. They have a huge task ahead of them as their next match is against the rocking Kiwis on their home turf and with no match practice for the last 14 days, it is to be seen if they are up for the challenge.
In Pool B, India are on top of the table, thanks to their resounding wins against South Africa and arch rivals Pakistan. The good margin of victory has helped the NRR hover above +2. The match between Ireland and Zimbabwe on 25th should be interesting as they both have a win under their belt and they have an opportunity to move to the 2nd spot on the table.
Such has been the nature of the tournament, title favourites South Africa find themselves at the 5th position on the table after their two outings, the impact of NRR due to the huge loss against India on Sunday.
