Netizens battle for Andhra capital

Hyderabad, Aug 15 (): Andhra Pradesh capital location has triggered a war among netizens. As Vijayawada has become home to government offices for the time being and Sivaramakrishna Committee report on capital city is due in a few days, a debate has broken out on social media.

One group is batting for Vizag as Andhra capital and another for Vijayawada. On Twitter and Facebook, the arguments for and against the proposed cities has sprung. Vizag citizens say that Naidu who claims to be a visionary did a mistake by making Vijayawada the temporary capital as only Uttarandhra people can save Andhra.

Vizagites have opened a FB page for their city to be Andhra capital but they are angry that denizens are not coming out in large numbers. A post said that giving 20 km of Metro to Vizag and 49 km for Vijayawada shows that the importance that Andhra government is giving and despite this there is no protest. The post asked Vizagites to go and drown in Bay of Bengal.

A FB page named ‘Vijayawada for Capital’  has got people elated on the choice to house government offices and many say that Naidu should not waver on making the city the capital of Andhra.

AP has put in a plan to make all villages have access to internet and WiFi by 2015. Power Grid Corporation has been allotted Rs 20,000 crore to make 1600 gram panchayats have fibre optic connectivity. Tenders have been floated and BBNL is the nodal agency. The aim is to enable e-governance in all panchayats.

Cables have to be laid for 28,000 km. Earlier, two tenders were rejected as the quoted price was high. Now the tender conditions have been tweaked and many telecom companies have come forward.

In another move, State government will tie up with ISRO for land mapping in urban and rural areas and bring in tele-medicine. The plan is to use space enabled services.
