Thermal Power Plant Engg admission 2014

New Delhi, Aug 4 (): NPTI, New Delhi has issued notification for 52 weeks Post Diploma course admissions in Thermal Power Plant Engineering for the year 2014-’15.

Detail about the course

From the time when the process of planned development began in 1950, power sector in the country has been in the forefront receiving plenty of priority.  Out of the total Public Sector outlay in initial plan periods, Power Sector has been receiving 18-20%.

In the successive five year plans, incredible growth and development has resulted in use of electricity in all the sectors of economy. Since 1950, the installed capacity of Power Plants has been greater than before to 248509.63 MW from a meagre 1713 MW in 1950.

Duration of the course

52 weeks with 2 semesters including class room sessions and on-the-job training.

Students need to participate in the on-job practice sessions in power plants substations etc.

As an integral part of the course, students will be asked to make a visit to reputed manufacturing plants.

Training in management will also be provided to students in order to enhance and develop their personal skills.

Aim of the course

Aim of the course is to expand manpower for the power sector that includes high skill in operating the power plant.

At the time of completion of the course, students will be familiar with wide basic and skilled knowledge such as:

Necessary safety aspects required in a power plant

Operation & maintenance of thermal power plant equipment and its process

Details of plant equipment

Process flow

Power plant project management

Mechanical & electrical aspects of power plants

Power plant schemes

Selection criteria

Age limit

Non-sponsored candidates should not exceed 26 years as on 15th September 2014. No limit for sponsored candidates.

Admission will be strictly based on the merit of marks obtained in Class 10/12 and Diploma.

Sponsored candidates need to attach a sponsorship certificate issued by their respective organization.
