Mumbai, July 11 (): Shraddha Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra starring hit movie Ek Villain has entered the prestigious 100 crore club.
Trade analst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#EkVillain [Week 2] Mon 2.50 cr, Tue 2.20 cr, Wed 2 cr, Thu 1.74 cr. Grand total: ₹ 101.32 cr nett. India biz. BLOCKBUSTER”.
Ek Villain, released on June 27, has received fabulous response from the audience as well as film critics. In spite of new releases, the movie had managed to finish the first week on a good note.
Ek Villain collected around 2 crore on all days on weekdays of the second week, hence the film had crossed the 100 crore mark easily. This is indeed fantastic for everyone involved in the movie – director Mohit Suri, lead stars Siddharth Malhotra and Shradha Kapoor. Riteish Deshmukh is enjoying his third 100 crore movie after Housefull 2 and Grand Masti.
Taran tweeted, “And it’s a hat-trick for Riteish Deshmukh in ₹ 100 cr Club: #Housefull2 in 2012, #GrandMasti in 2013 and now, #EkVillain in 2014”.
Also, Ek Villain has surpassed the box office collections of ‘Heropanti’, ‘Main Tera Hero’ and ‘Queen’ – those films that have done lifetime collection of Rs 53.40 cr, Rs 55 cr and Rs 61 cr respectively.
Breaking all such records and after entering into the elite 100 crore club, the movie will now eye on 2 States, Holiday and Jai Ho – the movies taking the first three places of top three grossers of the year so far.
Ek Villain is the highest grosser for both producer Ekta Kapoor and director Mohit Suri. The previous highest profitable movies for Suri is ‘Aashqui 2’ and Dirty Picture’ for Ekta.
Meantime today, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ had released. By the release of this romance movie, trade analysts predict that the collection of Ek Villain will surely fade at the box office circuits. But as Ek Villain had already proved to be a superhit at box office, anything additional to its performance will be fantastic.
