May 10 (): Chennai Super Kings(CSK) face their favourite nemesis Mumbai Indians(MI) in Mumbai which should be a cracker of a contest.
Whenever these two teams have faced each other in IPL, it has been a good contest. With the teams playing in the fort of Mumbai Indians, it needs to be seen how the Super Kings are going to adapt after their loss to KXIP. Also the last time both teams met here, Mumbai Indians were crowned champions of IPL 6 .
While Mumbai Indians are still in 7th position, they are coming into the match with two consecutive victories, one of which was against table toppers, KXIP , a team which CSK has failed to beat both times this IPL 7. MI has got their star batsmen Pollard contributing to both victories and they will expect another match winning innings from the tall West Indian batsmen.
Rohit Sharma, the skipper, also has been among the runs but his major worry will be the contribution of the opening pair. The highest opening score this season for MI has been 25 and this has been one of the reasons their innings did not take off during their UAE leg.
Chennai Super Kings has lost two matches this season and both of them have at the hands of KXIP or rather Maxwell. The bowling unit was struggling a bit but because of the batsmen, they were saved in the previous games, but against top class batting of Maxwell, Miller and Bailey, they withered. Ashwin’s negative line of bowling is not bringing him any favors while Jadeja has leaked too many runs.
CSK would expect a better performance from its bowlers as the MI have a talented batting line up with Rohit Sharma and Pollard who can take you to the cleaners. They would also expect their opening combination of Smith and McCullum to click after the rare failure against KXIP.
It should be a good duel between the CSK’s batting strength and MI bowling headed by Malinga. MI will have a lot at stake than Chennai, as a loss will almost end their IPL 7 campaign.
