Mumbai, Apr 25 (): Abhishek Verman directed film, 2 States has shown a huge success collection at the domestic box office. Having seen a stable first week, the movie has crossed 60 crore in its first week.
The collections have exceeded the predicted number, so, the Sajid Nadiadwala-Karan Johar production will enjoy a longer run in theatres, in spite of the two movies that released with 2 States and the other three movies that were released today.
Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer “2 States” is a romantic comedy and was released on April 18. The movie collected Rs 55.22 crore in six days at the Indian box office. It witnessed a strong six-day run, and the collections were also good on the seventh day, due to the election holiday in several states.
2 States raked in Rs 5.90 crore on its seventh day taking the total one week collection to Rs 60.43 crore. The collections remained steady at the box office centres in spite of the ongoing IPL matches.
The day-wise breakup of the film: Friday Rs 12.42 crore, Saturday Rs 12.13 crore, Sunday Rs 13.51 crore, Monday Rs 6.17 crore, Tuesday Rs 5.60 crore, Wednesday Rs 5.39 crore and Thursday Rs 5.90 crore.
As the collection soared high at the box office in the first week, ’2 States’ has now crushed the two week total of Varun Dhawan starrer “Main Tera Hero” in just six days.
“Main Tera Hero” managed to earn Rs 50 crore in two weeks, while “2 States” has collected Rs 55 crore in six days.
Other two movies that released with 2 States are Dekh Tamasha Dekh directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and Lucky Kabootar directed by Shammi Chhabra that features Eijaz Khan and Kulraj Randhawa. Both Dekh Tamasha Dekh and Lucky Kabootar did not affect the collections of 2 States.
Today, three films – Kaanchi, Samrat & Co. and Revolver Rani have been released and it has to be seen whether 2 States will withstand the competition given by these films.
