Kochi ,Apr 7 (): Mata Amritanandamayi devotees assaulted Swami Sandipananda and his ashram and ransacked DC Books’ owner house and attacked his outlets.

Swami Sandipananda Giri who was speaking at a public function in Tirur was attacked by a mob and following this he was hospitalized. Swami has alleged that Mata Amritanandamayi’s devotees are behind the attack on him.

Swami says that Mata Amritanandamayi is sending out the message that anybody who criticizes her and her ashram would face physical attacks. He alleged that Mata Amritanandamayi ashram is working in tandem with RSS to launch the attacks on her critics.

Mata Amritanandamayi is spreading a canard through the media that he is speaking against Hindu scriptures, said the Swami. He further revealed that DC Books, the publishing house that published the transcript of the interview done by CPM-owned Kairali TV channel by its editor John Britas with the author Gail who wrote about her harrowing experiences as an inmate in the ashram was targeted by Mata Amritanandamayi supporters.

They ransacked the house of DC Books’ owner’s house and attacked his bookshops, said the Swami. He said that he does believe in an eye for an eye policy and that truth will prevail. The office of DC Books and its CEO Ravi’s house in Kottayam was attacked by unidentified persons said to be Mata Amritanandamayi supporters, to protest against publication of the Malayalam version based on Gail Tredwell’s controversial book on Mata Amritanadamayi and her ashram.

According to police, three youths ransacked the DC Books’ shop in Kottayam and left a note saying the publishing house should stop from its campaign against Mata Amritanandamayi. Later in the night on the same day, miscreants pelted stones at the house of CEO Ravi.

DC Books had published a Malayalam version, Amritanandamayi Matt: a Sanyasiniyude Velippeduthalukal, (revelations by sanyasini) and it was based on Kairali TV managing editor John Brittas’s interview with Gail Tredwell.

DC Books said it has always taken a bold stand and has never taken religious or political sides on any issues. Reports coming in say that the blogs that criticize Mata and emanating from abroad are facing legal action from top-notch law firms and websites that host them are facing pressure to have it removed.
