New Delhi, Mar.30 (ANI): Former Finance Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha on Sunday criticised the economic policies of the Congress-led UP Government.
Sinha said the current growth rate of the country is not even expected to touch five percent, which was closer to eight percent during his tenure.
Sinha also said that the policies of the current government have caused the destruction of country’s economy, and the people are now craving for development.
“What caused such a bad situation and destruction of the country? People of the country are asking this. The biggest issue in front of the people is the one of development. The people of this country are now hungry for development”, Sinha told media here.
Sinha took a dig at outgoing Finance Minister P Chidambaram saying that the Bombay Stock Exchange’s sensitive index’s rise coincided with the announcement that the latter was not contesting general elections.
“When we left the government in 2004, we gave the succeeding finance minister, P. Chidambaram, a country growth rate of around eight percent. However, the economic growth rate under the current government is not expected to reach even five in the financial year ending tomorrow” Sinha added. (ANI)
