Mumbai, Mar 27 (): Rumours of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar having suffered a heart attack made rounds on Tuesday amid the heart-breaking news of veteran Indian film actress Nanda’s death. The rumour was Lata Mangeshkar suffered a heart attack hours after veteran actress Nanda passed away on Wednesday (March 25).
Lata Mangeshkar, the ‘Nightingale of India’, took to Twitter to squash all the rumours about her bad health.
She tweeted, “Namaskar. Meri tabiyat ke baare mein afwaayein phail rahi hai. Par aap sab ka pyar aur duaaien hain ke meri tabiyat bilkul thik hai.” (Namaskar, rumours about my health are spreading. But your love and blessings are with me and my health is perfect.)
Also on her microblogging site, the veteran singer condoled the death of actress Nanda. Remembering Nanda, the melody queen said Nanda was a great friend of herself from childhood and they used to meet each other while Lata Mangeshkar worked in Nanda’s father Vinayak Damodar Karnataki’s company as child artiste since 1943.
Lata recalled in her tweet when Nanda was 4-5 years old, she played the role of her younger brother in a film. Nanda’s elder sister Meena was also Lata’s friend. Lata did playback singing for Nanada since her debut film Toofaan Aur Diya.
Lata stated that Nanda was a great human being and she wished her soul to rest in peace.
Other celebrities also confirmed that the singer is hale and healthy. Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and Smriti Irani, actor turned politician also posted in Twitter that the veteran 84-year-old singer is hale and healthy and the rumours behind her ill-health are baseless.
Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted, “Just spoke to @mangeshkarlata. Lata Didi is hale and hearty. So please stop spreading baseless rumors”.
Smriti Irani tweeted, “As a family friend all I can say is that @mangeshkarlata didi is hale, hearty, in great spirits n laughing off rumours”.
