Kochi, Mar 6 (): Mata Amritanandamayi ashram scandal got more worse with Gail, the woman who wrote the book on her being sexually exploited giving a interview to CPM-run Kairali TV revealing more sordid details. Devotees of Mata Amritanandmai moved the court to restrain the channels from telecasting any news on Mata. The court refused the plea.
In what is termed as the biggest expose in the history of Indian TV, Kairali’s People channel went to town with the exclusive interview with Gail taken in Australia. The interview was done by the editor-in-chief John Brittas. John is noted for his direct and hard-hitting questions. The first part was televised yesterday.
Gail has now gone on record saying that the Mata herself was involved in sexual activities. Gail has challenged Mata to file a defamation case on her. She refuted the charge that she tried to kill the God woman and said after her quitting the ashram, she was given $15000.
Meanwhile, CPM youth leader who is leading an agitation against the ashram was called to the premises and Mata asked him as to why target her when many biggies have violated land rules. This conversation was recorded in a spy camera and released on the TV channel.
Leading channels Asianet, Surya, Manorama and Mathrubhumi are not telecasting anything on the scandal. Channels like Kairali, Indiavision (owned by Gulf-based Muslims and with links to Muslim League) and Reporter are those who are relentlessly behind the scandal.
None of the political parties except CPM are raking up the issue. Mata who has a sizeable following in the State has consolidated Hindu outfits to take on the CPM. Though the devotees are asking Mata to file a defamation case on the author, she refused saying that it would harm her daughter (Gail). People TV’s next part of the interview is said to be more explosive.
