Mumbai, Mar 5 (): The second season of Aamir Khan’s TV show Satyamev Jayate has moved the hearts of many in the Bollywood industry, including filmmaker Karan Johar.
Karan tweeted, “#SatyamevJayate broke my heart…made me feel helpless yet inspired me to make a change..truly moving, heartfelt and rightfully arousing!”
The episode was made in such a manner, it brought many truths behind rape cases to light. The way the actor has made the show to bring out the truth has inspired the filmmaker Karan Johar. He says the show has broken his heart and made him feel to bring about a change.
Satyamev Jayate 2 started its telecast on March 2nd, Sunday. The first episode was titled ‘Fighting Rape’ and probed into one of the most important issues that is scorching our nation in the recent times — crimes against women. The focus of the episode was mainly on the rising rape cases and other wrongdoings against women in India. Furthermore, the episode also gave out the humiliation attached to rape victims and ostracism met by them.
It was a two-hour-long episode, which started with a description of the dreadful gang rape of a 23-year-old physiotherapy student in New Delhi on 16 December, 2012 and then proceeded giving out the shocking statistics of rape cases in the country.
While advising viewers to change their opinion towards the rape victims who are looked down by the society, Aamir Khan encouraged the viewers to ‘Vote for Change’ by giving a missed call to number – 1800-103-2301 and assuring support for a standard procedure for medical examination of rape survivors. Astonishingly, 12 lakh missed calls were made in two hours.
The first episode of SMJ-Season 2 sent social media into overdrive with tweets and likes doing rounds at the internet. The show has inspired a lot of people in the country, which is clearly evident from the fact that on the day of its launch, SMJ took fourth place on Twitter.
