Kochi, Feb 23 (): Mata Amritanandamayi ashram has become the focus for CPM- BJP to spar against each other. Congress-led UDF ministry has initiated cases against some people who commented on the allegation in the book.
Yesterday, Mata Amritanandamayi at a temple function said that the functioning of the ashram is transparent and has been filing income tax every year. BJP general secretary P K Krishnadas entered the fray as CPM state secretary Vijayan made a statement on the Mata issue. Krishnadas says that CPM was using the issue to woo minorities. He termed the scandal created as a global conspiracy and spread by agents in Kerala.
Mata Amritanandamayi without naming anybody in her address to the devotees said that when some are unable to do things the way they like or get, what they wished, they would say many things. She said she was trying to forget and forgive and while doing so one will have to go through unpleasant situations; those who harbour hatred to others and take to the path of self-destruction. She added that it was she who worked for others and never has invited anyone to serve her.
The income and expenditure returns of the ashram in Vallikaavu are filed to the government, she added. If at all she had the alleged amount of wealth, she would have adopted the people of entire nation and pointed out that anybody coming to the ashram is not asked about their religion.
It is due to the sacrifices and hard work of devotees that she is able to serve mankind. Nobody sits idle in the ashram and is engaged in any work. Even she as a girl has carried mud, stones and cement, she added.
Though a human is bound to err in life, nothing as alleged has taken place, Mata said. Mata Amritanandamayi in a statement said that the ashram was not funded by any religion and there is no fees for joining and runs only on donations. Mata termed this as work of frustrated minds and move to disrupt communal peace. The Australian woman who wrote about the goings on in the ashram said that a slander campaign against her was going on.
