Mumbai, Feb 4 (): Jai Ho has finally entered the 100 crore club after collecting Rs 102.58 crore at the domestic box office in its second weekend.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#JaiHo *actuals* Week 1 – 88.78 cr, Wknd 2 – 13.80 cr. Grand total: ₹ 102.58 cr nett. India biz only. Figures confirmed by Eros”.
Salman Khan starrer ”Jai Ho” was predicted to cross 100 cr nett in just 4-5 days’ time if it missed its first weekend. But, unexpectedly, the film dropped and struggled on weekdays. Now, the film has taken 10 days to reach 100 cr nett.
Taran tweeted, “#JaiHo [Week 2] Fri 3.40 cr, Sat 4.50+ cr. Grand total: ₹ 96.68 cr. Estimates only, actuals on Mon”.
Jai Ho’s box office collection has been Rs 88.78 crore for the first week (till Thursday) as far as the domestic business is concerned. By Saturday, the film reached Rs 96 crore and it was expected to cross the 100 crore mark by Sunday. Jai Ho made it to the 100 crore club on Sunday.
Jai Ho collected just over Rs 17 crores on its opening day – a number that is very bad when compared with the opening day collections of Salman’s other films.
Taran said the business of Jai Ho may be lower than Ready, released in 2011. It is a shock as Salman’s stardom has only increased over the years. Even though the appreciation for Jai Ho is tremendous, the strong word of mouth has not translated into good business at the box office.
He continued Jai Ho is amongst Salman’s better films. The charismatic actor told him that he was flooded with compliments, with people of all ages congratulating him on his wonderful performance and the noble message that the film conveyed. But, Salman too cannot put a finger on any one particular reason for its not-as-expected run at the ticket window, added Taran.
